The Laziest Way To 3x Your Drum Speed

Most drummers overcomplicate their foot speed exercises.

The truth is that you can explode your kick speed with just 4 simple moves.

Follow this for 25 minutes a day, and your progress will explode!

Lazy Hack #1 — Lazy Feet
Level 1 (Off the Kit):
Heel Up — lift your heel only using your calf.
Heel Down — heel glued to the floor, lift the front of your foot.
Focus on controlled, exaggerated movements.

Level 2 (On the Kit):
Apply the same motion as 16th notes using ankle technique.

Lazy Hack #2 — Strategic Laziness (Kick Subtraction)
We’re sprint-training the kick by moving clusters of notes across bars.
Do NOT stack kick + snare together.
Start slow and increase tempo gradually.

Lazy Hack #3 — The Lazy Slide

Level 1 — 8th Note Triplet Slide Developer

Section the pedal into quarters. Pick two points and exaggerate the motion.
Increase by 2 BPM and allow the movement to naturally refine.
Think “slide through the pedal,” not “lift up.”

Level 2 — 16th Shifting Doubles

Lazy Hack #4 — Lazy Transitions (Smooth Laziness)
Quarter notes heel down → 8th notes heel up.
Focus on the transition motion between techniques.

Bonus Lazy Hack: 16ths Speed Bursts
20 seconds as fast as you can, 10 seconds rest. Repeat this for 5 minutes.
